He is currently down in the faraway land of New Zealand, skiing up a strom in the snowy mountains. Here are some of his reflections...
"This morning I hiked up one of the peaks at "The Remarkables" and then skied down it. Was I scared? Yes (don't let the smile in the picture below fool you). Was I committed to stretching beyond my comfort zone so I could grow as a skier. Definitely. So ate my fear. And skied down the mountain."
He goes on to share some of the lessons he has taken from his experience up on the mountain. Here are the 4 main lessons he shares and what I learned from him:
1. To stay inside your comfort zone, be it up on a mountain or in everyday life situations, it is a waste of time and energy. You may not be frightened, but you are also not experiencing any growth or development. If we are not living, we are dying right?
2. Don't allow your mind to hold you down, and keep your ambitions and desires small. As he climbed further up, conditions got worse, and his fear began to speak to him and discourage him... "What if you fall off this mountain?" "Maybe you're not good enough to ski this." "You could be in trouble up here." He put that voice on mute, got focused and did what he needed to do to get down that run. Robin Sharma tells the truth when he says "Most fears are just a bunch of lies you've sold yourself anyway." So refuse them.
3. We all have our own mountains to climb and fears to conquer. These challenges come in many forms; from personal issues to business problems, or maybe you feel that things are just not working for you. "Don't give up from your Everests because climbing them will take you to your next level of leadership and humanity. They are such precious gifts. Embrace them."
4. Reward yourself after the Win. He would usually not eat unhealthy foods, but decided to reward his solid courage with a "Mountain Chocolate Muffin". And for him, "It may not have been the best thing for his (my) body. But it definitely was the best thing for his (my) soul." And as Robin did, celebrate your win. Take your reward and connect it to the positivity of tackling hard things. After a defeat, you will be ready to take on new and bigger challenges.
Robin Sharma teaches us that most situations in life that leave you feeling great and energetic are the ones that deeply challenge us. He beat fear on the top of a mountain, was left feeling energized, accomplished and ready for another challenge. He was ready to "stretch, reach and grow."

Are you ready to grow?
Are you ready to press "MUTE" on that little voice called fear?
Don't get comfortable, cause there is no growth there!
Get ready to conquer in life! And get ready to grow!
